“visitations” series

“VISITATIONS” is a sculptural series that explores being visited by an ‘otherness’ that is difficult to elucidate yet can have a profound influence on us. Each of the figures is appointed a roman numeral which invites the collector to identify the influence that the figure evokes in them and to name it if they so wish.

I am drawn to the struggles of life, which are difficult to share but important to embrace. My representational sculpture grants opportunities to express both my internal and external influences, through shape and gesture. Details express nuances that entice the viewer to make their own interpretation. The interplay between line, form and structure is what captures my attention and will determine both the type of clay and the finish that I choose. Everything is created by hand, without patterns or molds, so no two pieces are alike.
